REVIEW RESULTS FOR LADY GREEN GARDEN CENTRE
Lady Green Garden Centre is one of our favourites
and has always scored highly when we have reviewed it. This latest
review confirms that it stands head and shoulders above most of the
large garden centres in the UK.
THE OUTSIDE AREA
The designers of the the outside plants area should be highly commended for
creating a huge space which not only houses a massive selection of
plants but also provides a very unusual and attractive setting for
them. Rather than go for boring long lines of plants they have
created a living garden with the plants for sale being attractively
displayed. Several ponds, fountains, centre pieces and bridges all
go together to create an area that entices you wander around.
The area is large with the main pathways being solidly paved and
kept very clear. Some of
the minor paths are formed from reasonably solid gravel. Allowing
for the meandering nature of the paths this is still an easy garden
centre to navigate with wheelchair users not having any problem.
There is a small covered area housing tender plants and a circular
path around the main garden centre being covered. Signs are clear and bold
and large plant groups are arranged in alphabetical order.
THE PLANTS
All the plants we examined were in good condition and
attractively displayed. They do have some specialist areas including
clematis, conifers, grasses, herbaceous plants and alpines to name
but a few. The average gardener will find exactly the plants he or
she
wants at Lady Green Garden centre in addition to many more unusual
plants. Hardy plants come with a five year guarantee.
As far as prices go a list of common items follows. Compost 56 litre
bag at £4.99 or three for £10, clematis from £12.99, roses from
£8.99, typical shrub (e.g. potentilla) from £8.99, Miracle Gro 1kg
is £4.99, Tomorite 1 litre is £4.49 or two for £8, economy Yeoman
spade or fork is £12.99 and they also sell stainless versions at
£22.99.
INSIDE LADY GREEN GARDEN CENTRE
The interior sales area is large and stocks everything you would
expect of a modern garden centre. Gardeners are well catered for and
there are lots of non-gardening items including cards, gifts,
clothing,
indoor, conservatory and outdoor furniture. books, a huge range of
gifts and lots more.
In common with the outside area lots of thought and effort has been
input to the design of the indoor area and it has paid off
handsomely. Although this is a thoroughly modern store it also has a
very pleasant, almost homely atmosphere to it. In our eyes it wins hands
down when compared to the many slick, ultra-modern sales area of
comparable garden centres.
DISABLED ACCESS
Disabled access is good all round both inside and outside. Wheel
chairs are available at the entrance.
OTHER STUFF
Car park - On flat and level ground near the store entrance.
An overflow area is also available.
Pet Centre - We didn't see any although there was a full
range of bird care feeds and accessories.
Aquatics - We didn't see any.
Water Features - Yes, there was a good range of water
features which were well displayed.
Sheds and Greenhouses - Yes, an especially good range of
sheds and garden buildings of all sizes.
Toilets - Clean and functional.
Other - None.

This is a beautiful garden centre, not only are
the plants in fantastic condition but they are displayed so well. The staff are
very helpful as well, I asked someone who was called Pete if a plant was OK
under my tree - he told me lots about plants under trees. I was really happy
with his advice. Well recommended garden centre. |

I take my parents quite frequently to the garden centre and they love it. The gardens are tranquil and the staff are knowledgeable and helpful. We always end up in the cafe which is lovely and the food is gorgeous. |
