SIZE: The cafe is medium sized.
FOOD TYPE: Cooked breakfasts, snack meals for lunch, cakes, teas and coffees.
FOOD QUALITY: The quality of the food was very good. We sampled a honey and mustard sausage roll with salad and chutney.
Without doubt the sausage roll was one of the best I have ever tasted and that comes from someone who has vast experience of sausage rolls! It certainly tasted and looked homemade. Well filled and covered with light pastry.

The chutney also tasted deliciously homemade. I wasn't quite so impressed with salad, the lettuce leaves looked slightly tired but it was still very edible. The coffee was delicious.
DECOR: Basic but pleasant surroundings which are very clean. There seems to be two seating areas to chooses from.
OUTDOOR SEATING: We did sit outside when we visited and it was a very pleasant seating area. Surrounded by shrubs, the seating and tables were clean and presentable. A very relaxing place to have a full breakfast, snack meal or a tea and cake.
Outside seating at Potting Shed cafe
SERVICE: We report as we experienced it. Taking our order was instantaneous without any queue and the food was delivered to our table in less than ten minutes. Service was pleasant and courteous.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Our meal was excellent value for money.
SIZE OF PLANTS AREA: The garden centre by itself has a medium sized plants area but when combined with the Bosai Nursery and Avondale Nursery it is approaching a large area.
PLANT SELECTION: Russells Garden Centre present themselves selling their own home grown plants and they do this well. This means however that there are significant gaps in the range of plants they offer. But a great place to wander around and you never can be sure quite what you will find.
The choice of clematis and ornamental trees was very good.
LAYOUT: A very basic layout with no attempt to offer an interesting plants area. The surface is thick gravel which may present some problems for wheelchair users or those with mobility problems. Several of the plant bays were simply laid out on the floor.
There are very few signs to indicate where particular plant groups are situated and it did all appear a bit random.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Value for money was very good. The cheapest clematis was a mere £14 and the cheapest rose was even better value at £9.00. Other plants matched those low prices.
SIZE: Small
LAYOUT: Basic layout but that's fine because they really only sell garden items here - no gifts, clothes or that sort thing.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Prices are very reasonable.
ACCESS: Wheelchair users may find some areas of the garden centre challenging because of the gravel surface.
FACILITIES: Stonemarket have created small display gardens to show off some of their paving designs. Great for getting some ideas if you are thinking about new paving. From memory I think that there are about ten small display areas.
As well as the main garden centre there are two specialist nurseries on site. One grows bonsai trees and the other grows slightly unusual and hard to find plants. Both are right next to the garden centre and well worth a wander round.
