Little Heath Garden Centre was owned by the same family for over thirty years and they expanded it over many years.
Now taken over by British Garden Centres with the new name of Bromsgrove Garden Centre.
One area which has received particular attention is the expansive aquatics centre.
The plants are sourced from UK plant nurseries and in some cases from Europe. They all look in good condition and well looked after. They are particularly proud of their hardy Italian shrubs many of which are large enough to be suitable for use as centre pieces. They stock a full range of roses, shrubs, alpines, conifers and grasses to name but a few. At seasonal times of the year they stock a large choice of bedding plants and hanging baskets. All hardy plants and trees come with a one year guarantee.
The plants area is mainly paved with a covered area to protect tender plants from the worst of the UK weather. It is pleasantly designed with the plant bays attractively arranged throughout the area. They have an area dedicated to sheds, fencing, composts and landscaping materials.
The inside sales area houses their garden accessories department, a bird care area with lots of feeds and bird boxes. A wide range of garden furniture is on sale as well as oak indoor furniture and conservatory chairs and tables. When the Christmas period arrives they stock lots of seasonal goodie, live and synthetic Christmas trees and regular visits from Santa Claus.
The aquatics department was established in 1985 and has been developed into one of the largest in the area. With live cold water and tropical fish sourced from around the world, if you are looking for unusual fish then this is the place to visit. If they don't have a particular fish then they are more than willing to order it for you. They also stock masses of differently designed aquariums and all the accessories for the fish enthusiast.
The cafe is light and airy with large windows making for a pleasant environment. We think the regimented lines of the tables could maybe set out a little more interestingly to give a better appearance but overall this is well-designed cafe. They have an indoor seating area as well as a small outside patio which is opened in good weather.
The main meals are available daily at lunch time with Sunday roasts weekly. The snack meal menu consists of a choice of baked potatoes, sandwiches and baguettes with different fillings. Snacks are served throughout the day as are coffees, teas, cold drinks and lots of tasty cakes.
