CHOOSE GARDEN CENTRES BY COUNTY BELOW
BRIEF HISTORY: Blooms of Bressingham (ten branches) was acquired by Wyevale Garden Centres in 2007 and the Blooms Worcester branch was part of that deal. In July 2019 Blue Diamond bought this Worcester garden centre from Wyevale's for £3,800,000.
The history of this garden centre goes back much further. It began life in 1923 as a small nursery owned by William Palmer selling fruit, vegetables and flowers.
William developed the nursery considerably over the next thirty years and it passed to his daughter Diana in the late 1950s. She developed the nursery into a fully fledged garden centre until it was bought by Blooms who developed it even further.
PLANTS AREA: A decent selection healthy plants but on the expensive side.

INTERIOR SALES AREA: The interior area is on a par with a medium sized garden centre. Don't expect all the non-gardening shopping of very large garden centre.

SIZE: Medium to large
FOOD TYPE: Typical garden centre cafe food. Everything including breakfasts (9.00 to 11.00), coffees / teas, cakes, snacks and main meals.
FOOD QUALITY: We ordered coffees and a "Light Breakfast". Both were good quality, at the correct temperature, presented well and filling. We were pleasantly surprised to be offered a choice of how we wanted our eggs - fried, scrambled or poached. Our fried egg was perfect, solid white with a slightly runny yolk.
Breakfast at Worcester Garden Centre
DECOR: Average to slightly above average. The tables and chairs were fine, the overall decor reasonable. The whole area was clean.
OUTDOOR SEATING: There is a plain but functional and clean outside seating area which is not covered.
SERVICE: It took us 14 minutes to queue before placing our order, the food (a breakfast) was served to the table in 12 minutes. That's about average for a cafe of this type and the time of day. Service is prompt and courteous.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Taking everything into account this cafe gives good value for money. No particular area lets this cafe down and the food quality was a good positive.
SIZE OF PLANTS AREA: Large
PLANT SELECTION: A very adequate selection of almost all types of plants. In the outdoor plants area they offer a good range of landscaping materials such as fencing, paving, stones etc. as well as lots of outdoor pots and other garden features.

LAYOUT: Nothing particularly inspirational about the layout of the plants area but it is more interesting than many of the very large garden centres.
Immediately outside the main building is a covered area which houses tender plants. In the main plants area the primary paths are covered and solidly paved. The intersecting paths are open to the elements and are on compacted gravel. All the paths are wide enough for easy access and will not present a problem to wheelchair users.
The entire area is level with wide paths.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Prices are above average. For example, the cheapest rose we could find was priced at £19.99 and the cheapest clematis was £17.99 which is pricey.
Blue Diamond guarantee all their hardy nursery stock for five years.
SIZE: Smaller than might be expected given the size of the plants area but large enough to allow for all the average gardener would need. Cards, gifts, furniture and house plants are all available - sufficient for a good browse around just don't expect it to compare with a large garden centre.
